The Party Department

Work Christmas party ideas

If you've been asked to sort the Christmas party, these are the ideas that go down well with a room of colleagues, and why.

We run all of them ourselves, on their own or together in one evening, across London, Surrey, Kent and Essex.

Christmas party ideas that work in a room of colleagues

A hosted Christmas quiz

We mix the teams across departments and host it from the stage on our own quiz software. Send us a few facts about your people and we'll write a round about them, like who's run a marathon or whose desk that is.

Music bingo

Bingo, but the numbers are songs. People who don't normally mix are chatting within ten minutes, so it's a good way to start the evening.

Karaoke

We get the quieter ones up as well as the usual suspects, and it can run alongside the DJ later on.

A DJ, once the room is ready

We bring full sound and lighting. Nobody dances at seven, so we start quietly and turn it up once people are ready to dance.

Your own awards, hosted from the stage

You pick the categories and the winners, and we host them from the stage for as long or as short as you like.

Your photos on the big screen

Send us photos from the year, like the summer social or the away day, and we'll put them on the big screen between quiz rounds while the answers are marked.

How the evening usually runs

  1. As people arrive
Music bingo or the first few quiz rounds while people arrive. Nobody wants to dance yet.
  2. Food and speeches
When you want them, and we stick to the times.
  3. Awards
If you're having them, hosted from the stage.
  4. The rest of the night
The DJ, karaoke or a bit of both, once everyone's warmed up.
  5. The end
We finish on time, so the venue isn't the one who has to call it.

That's how it usually goes. We'll settle the actual running order with you once we know the venue and the numbers.

Easy to sign off

Invoiced up front

Your invoice comes with the confirmation, so it can be paid straight away, or up to 7 days after the event if your finance team needs longer. Your PO number goes on it if you have one.

Insured and PAT tested

£5m public liability cover and PAT tested kit. The insurance certificate comes with your booking, ready to pass on to the venue.

One named contact

I'm Mark. You deal with me from the first email to the invoice, with no account manager in between, and it's nearly always me running the night too.

Run to your timings

Speeches, awards and the last song happen when you want them, and the room goes back to the venue on time.

Christmas party questions

When should we book the work Christmas party?

As early as you can. Send us the date as soon as you have one, even if nothing else is decided, and we'll check the diary. A date, a venue and a rough headcount is enough for a price, and the rest can wait.

What if some of the team cannot be there in person?

We can run a hybrid quiz, in the room and online at the same time, and we talk to the people on screen directly so they stay involved. We've done one at Takeda HQ.

Does the venue need anything from us?

Venues nearly always ask for public liability insurance and PAT testing. Your booking page has a link to pass on to your venue, and they can download our insurance certificate from it, so that's one less thing for you to chase. All our kit is PAT tested.

How much does a Christmas party cost?

It depends on the date, the venue, the numbers and what you'd like included, so every quote is different. Tell us those and we'll come back with a price.

Tell us about your party

Send the date, the venue and a rough headcount. No venue yet? Just say so.
